Extension to download linux distro on android phone

T he setup programmers would need for coding will be radically different than the setup artists and video editors would need for content creation and editing! Hence some factors that are considered important for using Linux as a workstation depend upon the kind of work that you are planning to do with it. If you plan to do all of your productive activities on your next Linux distro then I suggest reading the article I wrote recently given in the link below where I have analyzed and compared several options in order to figure out what is the best distro for workstation purposes.

The above tools are all you need to start developing Android apps. These are just a small list of endless tools you may need to install and configure before you can start your development activities. I am sure you did not come to this article expecting to see Ubuntu on the list! But there is a reason for it being here, among all the top distros, Ubuntu is the one giving some thought to moving into the smartphone arena with its Ubuntu phone.

Because of that the android tools that are made available through the official Ubuntu repos are made to go through a rigorous testing process to make sure it will perform just the way we expect them to!

Also Ubuntu is a very popular distro you and is known for its stability, you can count on it to not break on you every once in a while, leading to endless hours of trying to fix your computer! You can read more about these flavors in my other article given below.

B BQ Linux is a distro focussed solely on Android development. The best way to connect an android device to Ubuntu or whatever other linux distro, is to install a ssh server app and access to it through local ip address using a file manager as a ssh client.

I've found waiting at least 10 seconds guarantees me a successful reconnection. PC has no net and I can't teather. I've been trying to connect an old Lenovo Af tablet that's stuck in a loop although, I can boot it into recovery mode.

Windows won't look at it even with ADB universal drivers seems to be a common problem with Lenovo not giving out tablet drivers. So my problem is trying to get Linux to connect with it. It sees the tablet briefly when it goes through its' loop and then shuts down again. How do I get Linux to connect with it in recovery mode?

This should be possible, yes? What a techie wet dream that is. Doesn't work. Linux doesn't see my Samsung phone.

It did at one time, however. But now it does not. The new session will open to a desktop environment. To open applications, tap the start menu located at the bottom-left side of your screen.

The methods above show you how to install a Linux OS on your smartphone. Linux is more flexible than Android by enabling users to perform functions such as advanced image editing, app development, and working in a real desktop environment.

The downside is that you are working on a tiny screen. However, if you want the ability to carry your desktop in your pocket, give it a try. David has a background in small business and lives in Australia.

If you're a network admin, you can install your favourite Linux tools and turn the smartphone into a portable network troubleshooting or pen-testing device. The LinuxOnAndroid project produces an Android app and a couple of shell scripts, and hosts a bunch of Linux distros that you can boot using the app.

In a snap, the scripts mount the Linux image within the Android filesystem and the SD card within the Linux filesystem. They then call on chroot to change the root directory to that of the mounted Linux and open up a shell for you to interact with the mounted Linux system. The scripts only prepare the environment for Linux to run on the device. The Linux image files hosted by the project are just customised Linux environments packaged by the project developers to suit different use-cases and devices.

The important bit is that all the Linux distros offered by the project are made up of ARM packages, and instead of running in a virtual machine they run on the real hardware on your Android smartphone. This is why you can run it on the measliest of devices.
